Representative Leadership

In 2021, New Zealand’s Ministry of Health launched a deep dive into the state of leadership development across the Health and Disability System. As part of the project, the Ministry brought together a consortium of specialists called ‘He Waka Eke Noa’ – with All is for All appointed as a voice for the disabled community.

All is for All undertook an initial phase of discovery work, designed to identify the health and disability system’s biggest leadership development needs. In our research, we engaged with 52 people – 70% of whom had lived experience of disability.

Over a series of interviews and focus groups, we gathered a range of insights over many intersectional identities. From management to staff and workforce, we identified areas of reform needed across the board. Helping free New Zealand’s health system from the barriers that disabled people regularly face.
