Kate Sylvester: Belle Dress

Kate Sylvester is a premier New Zealand designer creating considered womenswear collections that take reference from a plethora of different regions in order to create intelligent, beautiful and dynamic garments.

Kate Sylvester takes pride in going at a slower pace, rarely producing over 100 units in any style, with some pieces we run as few as six units. Furthermore, at least 85% of their collections are produced onshore in New Zealand. When local manufacture is not possible KS works with hand-picked offshore factories.

Kate Sylvester was one of All is for All’s first partners.

Accessibility Quick Facts

100% silk watermelon toned dress from the Love letters collection.

It has some stretch and a long sleeve that is roomy at the shoulder, this assists with easy wear and removal of the garment. It is also roomy at the waist where it is slightly gathered and at the neckline there is gather detailing, but this is still roomy.

The dress flows straight down, with some movement in the skirt. The sleeves are slim, but not tight.

The skirt is long, but not too wide so comfortable to sit on.

No zips, buttons or closures on the dress.

The beautiful Lily wears this striking watermelon dress from the ‘Love Letters’ collection, launched at New Zealand fashion week. The Belle Dress is quite accessible, with no closures or zips and a gather at the waist which makes the garment roomier in the top half, which is ideal when you’re pushing your wheelchair.

The length of this dress might be a bit long, so you could consider getting it taken up for even more ease. As the sleeves are full length, they may rub against mobility aids, so you could also hem the sleeves slightly to avoid any transfer.

The 100% silk dress has a smooth texture and feels comforting against the skin.
